On May
13, 2000, a group of individuals came together
under
the auspices of the Peacemaking Committee
of
the Lehigh Presbytery to construct a
labyrinth
for spiritual renewal at
Brainerd.
A labyrinth is a
winding
pathway that
suggests
one's
spiritual
journey
through
life.
There is one way
in
and one way out. There are
no
blind alleys or dead ends, as in a maze.
The
path goes into the center and leads back out again.
WALKING THE LABYRINTH
There are three parts to the labyrinth walk. The first part
is the movement into the center. As you walk toward the
center, you release the details and busyness of your mind.
When you reach the center, you can spend time reflecting,
praying, meditating as you are drawn to do. The third part,
as you leave the center, is the time of awareness, of sensing
God's presence.
My
vows to thee I must perform, O God; I will render thank offerings to thee.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death, Yea, my feet from falling,
That I may walk before God in the light of my life.
-- Psalm 56:12-13 --
