Lehigh
Presbytery, at its June 28 meeting in Milford, PA elected Rev.
Steven H. Shussett to be the Teaching Presbyter of Lehigh
Presbytery. He intends to start working in the Presbytery by
September 1, 2005.
The Rev. Steven H. Shussett has been on the
General Assembly Staff in Louisville, KY as the Associate for
Spiritual Formation since 2001.Prior to that he served two small
congregations in Buchanan, VA and Frostburg, MD as Pastor.
Steve graduated from the University of
Pittsburgh with a B.A. (English Writing and Political Science) and
also a Masters of Public and International Affairs. He received his
Masters of Divinity from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and his
Doctor of Ministry from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at
Philadelphia.
Steve and his wife Alicia have two children:
Rachel, 11, and Daniel, 8.
Steve is the editor of Hungryhearts, the
denomination’s publication on Reformed Spirituality and of “Lord,
Teach Us to Pray”, a resource on prayer. He has also contributed
to many other PC(USA) publications. He has taught around the country
on a variety of subjects relating to spiritual formation, and
provides leadership in the Company of Pastors and the
Order of Elders, two programs seeking to encourage daily prayer,
reading of the confessions and continued intellectual rigor.
As a member of Baltimore Presbytery, Steve
served on the New Church Development Committee and was the
Chairperson of the Committee on Mission. He has also taught at the
Church Transformation Conference in Irving, Texas and also in the
Presbytery of West Virginia’s Commissioned Lay Pastor program on the
dynamics of spiritual formation and church development and
redevelopment.

Strengthening and Supporting Congregations – a Proposal to Lehigh
Presbytery for Restructuring and Staffing, feel Steve
exemplifies the personal qualities and skills desired in the
Teaching Presbyter. We there fore proudly present Reverend Steven H.
Shussett for the position of Teaching Presbyter of Lehigh
